2023 Drone Videos of the Week: Episode 35

Former DVOW Winner and 2023 DVOY nominee davetke2002 brings us this compilation of drone video clips taken over the course of a two year period working in Sub-Saharan Africa.  The video opens with shots of Victoria Falls, on the border between Zimbabwe and Zambia.  Then you'll see safari animals in Botswana, a landlocked country just south of the falls.  At the 1:42 mark, you'll head to the Indian Ocean island nation of Mauritius.  Starting at 2:38, you'll see a number of spots in Namibia, before winding up in Cape Town, South Africa.  

Take in these beautiful aerial views of Israel, compliments of former DVOW Finalist koszoandras_photography.  At the :12 mark, there's a nice shot looking north from the ancient port city of Jaffa to the modern metropolis of Tel Aviv, followed by a great view of the Tel Aviv beaches.    From there, you'll head south for some amazing shots from the Negev Desert and the Dead Sea, before heading to the northern port city of Haifa at the 2:30 mark.  Other highlights include the Red Sea town of Eilat (2:50), historic (3:11), and more.

 brings us this stunning drone video from the Highlands of Iceland, the mountainous region which covers much of the interior of the North Atlantic island nation.  Filmed with a DJI Mavic 3 Cine, a GoPro Hero 11 mounted to a first person view (FPV) drone, and a Nikon ground camera, the video will take you over some of the island's most stunning but inaccessible natural scenery: most of the Highlands lie well off of Route 1 (aka the Ring Road), and the few roads are unpaved.  

Prepare to be blown away by this stunning pro drone reel from Mexico, complimentts of top AirVuz contributor Barnard Steele.  He has worked with some of the top names in the worldwide entertainment industry, including HBO, Amazon Studios, Lionsgate, and the History Channel.   His reel is full of absolutely jaw-dropping shots that show off the astounding cinematic power of drone-mounted cameras to create shots that were until very recently the exclusive preserve of airplane and helicopter filming.  

Muhamad AbuShakra is one of the world's top aerial videographers, with 650k followers on Instagram as of mid-2023.  He has a highly distinctive filming style which often involves placing himself and his traveling companions into videos shot in stunning scenes of nature; the juxtaposition of "small" humans compared to their surroundings makes for some incredibly compelling content.  While many of his videos were filmed in the Alps, in this video you'll see him use his trademark style to show off the stunning natural scenery of Iceland.
