2023 Drone Videos of the Week: Episode 11

Multiple Drone Video of the Week winners and 2023 DVOY nominees DigitalTravelCouple brings us this stunning travel video from the South Island of New Zealand.  Created with drone and ground camera footage, the video opens with shots from the Southern Alps, a chain of mountains which runs roughly parallalel to the western coast of the island and whose peaks reach up to 12.2k ft. above sea level in altitude (3.7k m).  Starting at about 2:00, you'll be treated to some epic views of the island's coastline, then head back into the mountains.

Every week, our team reviews every video uploaded to the site to pick the Top 5 videos. Then, we name our favorite as our Drone Video of the Week and send that drone pilot $ 250. (The winning video is also then a contender for Drone Video of the Month.) Former DVOW Winner and Drone Video Award Finalist haussmannvisuals brings us this stunning drone video from Madeira, a Portuguese island located off the coast of North Africa.  Filmed with a DJI Mavic Pro 2 drone as well as a first person view (FPV) quad, the video will take you over and around this mountainous paradise.  Highlights include the Ponta de São Lourenço cape at the island's eastern end (at about the :38 mark), a stunning fly-through of a rock arch (1:45), the iconic clock tower of the town of Ribeira Brava (1:52), and more.  

Top contributor Chris Jeon returns to AirVuz after a two year hiatus with this marvelous travel video from the Alps Mountains, where he spent 40 days traveling in the winter.  Starting at the :17 mark, you'll see the Matterhorn, which is located in Switzerland near the Italian border.  At around :28, you'll see Neuschwanstein Castle in the Bavarian Alps.  Other featured locations include the Tre Cime di Lavaredo massif in the Italian Dolomite Mountains (1:12), the iconic Swiss village of Lauterbrunnen. France's Mont Blanc, and much more.  

Explore the Central Asian land of Mongolia in this fantastic travel video by former Drone Video of the Week Finalist Julien57120, which was created using aerial footage from a DJI Air 2S combined with ground camera shots.  The video opens with some amazing shots of iconic Mongolian horses wandering the steppe in the western part of the country, including incredible sequences of traditionally-garbed nomadic Mongolian horsemen.  At the 1:15 mark, there's an epic overhead shot of what appears to be a herd of goats.

Explore Ireland in this excellent series of dronelapse shots, compliments of top contributor Drone Photography Ireland.  The first stop is Fore Abbey, a ruined Benedictine monastery in County Westmeath.  Next stop Doonagore Castle, on the coast of County Clare.   Then it's on to Loop Head Lighthouse, which is also in County Clare, at the mouth of the Shannon River.  Other featured locations include (in order of appearance) Mt. Errigal in County Donegal, the ruins of Loughcrew in County Meath, Burren National Park, and more.
