2020 Drone Videos of the Week: Episode 23

Several-time Drone Video of the Week Finalist Makhorov brings us this stunning drone video from Russia's Altai Mountains, home of some of the world's most remote and beautiful scenery.  The range, which runs through southern Siberia and also covers portions of China, Mongolia, and Kazakhstan, has peaks as high as 4.5k meters above sea level (14.8k ft.).  Sparsely populated and studded with a number of giant lakes, the Altai's are famously difficult to access (particularly from within Russia) due to a lack of passes.    

Check out this DVOW nominatied video of the easternmost tip of Java, Indonesia, compliments of AirVuz contributor and pilot elmandakrisna.   The regency (essentially, state or province) of Banyuwangi occupies the eastern end of the southernmost of the two "forks" of eastern Java.   The largest of Java's regencies by land area, Banyuwangi has a long southern coastline on the Indian Ocean and a somewhat shorter eastern coastline on the Strait of Bali, across which lies the strait's namesakle island.  Like much of Java, Banyuwangi's interior is mountainous.

Rinjani on the island of Lombok, the rice terraces of interior Bali, Bali's volcanic Mt. Agung, and more.  

New AirVūz contributor Aran77 brings us this incredible aerial tour of New York City during the Covid-19 lockdown.  In Spring 2020, New York City became the epicenter of Covid-19 in the United States; due to social-distancing measures, its streets became nearly empty. In this video, you will see an eerie sight of some of New York City's most iconic locations that would normally be congested with crowds and bursting with traffic turned into a desolate ghost town.  This video won the Lockdown category at the 6th Annual NYCDFF.

Check out this fantastic aerial demo reel created by drone pilot and top AirVūz contributor Rocannon.  Mostly shot in Russia, this stunning piece was filmed over the course of two years on DJI Mavic Air, Mavic Pro, and Mavic Pro 2.  It's jam-packed with stunning landscape and action shots, ranging from skiers in the Khibiny Mountains in Murmansk, to a kiteboarding trip in Crimea, to the volcanoes of Kamchatka, to the mountains of the Caucasus.  This video was a Drone Video of the Week finalist in June 2020.
