2018 Drone Video of the Month Winners

Award-winning contributor and drone pilot Mike Bishop was supported by DJI to make this incredible film of wildlife in Namibia in southern Africa.  Shot on the Erindi game reserve, it features elephants, lions, cheetahs, hyenas, ostriches, crocodiles, other exotic animals only found in Africa.  Chosen as a winner of the AirVuz Drone Video of the Week and Drone Video of the Month, it went on to win the Drones for Good category in the second annual Drone Video Awards and was named the Drone Video of the Year.

Just when you thought you had seen all the best videos of Iceland that you could see, David Aguilar comes up with this stunning 4K piece. With time-lapses of the Northern Lights and countless mountain peaks; top-down shots of the famous black sand beaches and volcanoes; panning and reveals of waterfalls, green and gold hills, and icebergs - this video has it all.  A Drone Video of the Week winner in late 2018, the video was the winner of the  People's Choice Award at the second annual Drone Video Awards.  

Created over a 10 month period, this short film by Ghadir Shaar is meant to show off the United Arab Emirates and all the country has to offer. See the UAE's sharp, rugged mountains and endless, sandy deserts, its sprawling city of Dubai with its world-renowned architecture (as well as the world's tallest skyscraper), camels, deserted towns, and stunning sunrises.  This video was AirVuz Drone Video of the Week, December Week 2 and is now a Drone Video Awards' Nature & Landscape nominee.

Grim Berge is an award-winning content creator and aerial videographer.  When someone like him spends 100 days traveling around his native Norway making a drone travel video, you know it's going to be good.  This epic piece, featuring fjords, charming fishing villages, and boundless views from incredible perches, won both the Drone Video of the Week and the Drone Video of the Month distinctions here on AirVūz, and was chosen as a Finalist in the Countries and Regions category for the second annual Drone Video Awards.

With over 7,700 islands, it's not surprising that the Philippines has become such a magnet for drone pilots around the world  This three and a half minute video by contributor Bachir_Photo_Phactory shows off the best of the archipelgago from a bird's eye perspective.  Feast your eyes on tropical forests, crystal clear waters, Chocolate Hills, abundant waterfalls, and famous paraw sailing boats. It is easy to see why this video won both Drone Video of the Week and Drone Video of the Month. 

Follow the very talented drone videographer and Instagram star PilotViking on yet another epic aerial expedition through the scenic landscapes of Norway, Iceland, and the Faroe Islands. His video, a Drone Video of the Week and Drone Video of the Month Winner in October 2018, gives a powerful view of these Scandinavian wonderlands, full of massive mountains, cascading waterfalls, and tranquil beaches and fjords. This video was the Winner for Drone Video Awards' Nature & Landscape category. 

Top content creator and drone pilot Zimy Da Kid created this epic aerial tour of Japan, which he shot with a DJI Mavic Pro drone supplemented with ground camera footage.  The video takes us from first from capital city Tokyo and then to Kanazawa, during the height of the  cherry blossom season.  Then he proceeds to ancient Kyoto and its magnificent temples, and from there to Nara, Osaka, the Nachi waterfall, and Mt. Fuji. This video is a nominee in our Drone Video Awards' Countries & Regions category.

This film captures the essence of a trip to Madeira, a group of islands off the coast of North Africa which are a semi-autonomous region of Portugal.  As you'll see from the video, Rocky cliffs, towering mountains, and shining coasts make this a great bucket list destination for any avid traveler.  Contributor used a combination of ground camera and drone footage to create this epic record of his trip, which was a Finalist for both the Drone Video of the Week and the Drone Video of the Month in August, 2018.   

Mauro Pagliai has an alternative idea of what a travel video should look like! Navigate through time as he uses his drone to soar around ancient ruins, creatively showing off the different ways photography has changed. The backdrop of Abruzzo in the central part of Italy is perfect for this highly creative piece.  This video won both the Drone Video of the Week and the Drone Video of the Month contest and was picked as a Finalist in the Originality category for the second annual Drone Video Awards.
