Transalpina - The King's Road - The Highest Roads in Romania
AIRVŪZ STAFF NOTE :
While the famously winding Transfagarasan is probably the most well known road through Romania's Southern Carpathian Mountains, it's of relatively recent (1970's) vintage. Here's an aerial view of an older (and higher) road called the Transalpina. It runs through the Urdele Pass, connecting the towns of Novaci in Wallachia (Muntenia) with Sebeș in Transylvania. Designated as the DN67C, it is situated to the west of its more well known sister road (DN7C) and was built during World War II.
