Kuching is the capital and largest city of Sarawak, the larger of the two Malaysian states which sit on the island of Borneo and are separated from the Malaysian mainland by the South China Sea. Located on the banks of the Sarawak River in the northwestern corner of the giant island, Kuching is considered the gateway to tourist travel in Malaysian Borneo, an emerging destination for travelers from Peninsular Malaysia as well as further afield.
