AIRVŪZ STAFF NOTE : Check out this fantastic drone video of an important ancient ruins in northern Israel, compliments of AirVuz contributor and pilot jameelkhair. Variously known as Hippos and Sussite, the site is located atop a hill overlooking the Sea of Galilee in the Jordan Valley, close to the Syrian border. Hippos was founded by Seleucid colonists in the third century BC, soon becoming an important city-state which thrived particularly well during the Roman period. Devastated by an earthquake in 749 AD, the city was abandoned.
